  noteNearly two years old. Black but not thick. Still has a nice head, half a finger and bubbles that stick around. Scent is gentle malty sweetness with a hint of cocoa. Taste is subtle coffee, chocolate covered raisins. Hops seem to be gone, but there is a faint bitterness still. Slightly sweet, coffee finish. Very nice, age has done this beer well.

Still a great beer, although I'd probably not age this more than a year, or else try to age it 3-4 years to see if any aged flavors come through.

  noteDeep amber with a foamy head. Wonderfully carbonated with great lacing. Beautiful beer. A tiny bit of sediment.Scent is lightly of brown sugar and dried fruit. No hope aromas. Taste is very balanced. Hops are still noticeable but not dominant like they once were. Definitely still a bitter American barleywine. Some dried fruit and sherry flavors are emerging, Brown sugar and caramel. Just a hint of booziness, but it seems less than I recall from a year ago. Mouthfeel is smooth, yet well-carbonated. Not syrupy like some English barleywines get. Finish is fairly dry, with a big of lingering toasted carmel and dried fruit. This beer is definitely increasing in complexity as hops fade and oxidation takes effect.

A little bitterness, a little sweetness, a lot of complexity. Only one more and I'll truly be sad when they're gone.

  noteDeep amber, clear, with a one-finger head. A nice layer of bubbles linger. Brown sugar, caramel, toffee aromas. Taste is toffee, brown sugar, caramel, dried black cherries, molasses, a hint of vanilla, and a bit of resiny hop bitterness still remains. No cardboard or signs of oxidation. Finish is just a bit boozy. Mouthfeel is smooth, carbonation hasn't hardly fallen off at all.
