Took me a bit to parse the flavors, at first I was just expecting massive strawberry, then it seemed like it just wasn't a fresh fruit flavor. The rhubarb covers up a lot of the maltiness so it ends up tasting more like spritzer than beer. And at 4% you can basically drink it that way. Interested to see how much it will settle, although it's bottle conditioned. I can't put this up with Serendipity but I like it as much as the Belgian Red.

  noteAbout what I expected. Which is to say, exceptionally good. In the same tier as BCBS. Massive barrel. High ABV. Started out roasty with too much carbonation, but quickly smoothed out as it warmed. Just a rich, thick dark, stout. More marshmallow /vanilla than chocolate. Not a fan of the cans for cellar life but I love the serving size.

  noteA big hit. Well earned reputation. I had no difficulty identifying this style from its complete lack of bitterness. Ventures into Belgian Strong Ale territory with its sweetness. Stereotypical toffee and caramel. Incredibly well balanced, so smooth for 13%, no alcohol bite, no booziness. Not as complex as I was hoping considering the reputation, but a relative bargain for the price. Maybe I should have grabbed another bottle this year when I had the chance?
