  noteSo, this takes 2 or 3 years of aging to get it where I want it. The bite is gone, the heat is gone, so smooth and rich. Tastes unmistakably like a barleywine, and an American barleywine at that, but so well integrated. One of the few worth the cellar space. Sigh, not quite Straightjacket but half the price.

  noteNow it tastes good. Alcohol heat is gone, leaving behind raisin, date, fig, sweetness. Incredibly deceiving 15% now, I would guess 11%. However, as pleasant as it is I don't long for a beer that tastes like this. I don't avoid eating food or brushing my teeth afterwards in order to continue enjoying the aftertaste. It's as good as any naked barleywine I've ever had, but can't aspire to the same heights as one aged in spirit barrels.

  noteOne of my favorite pale ales that I've tried. Has a nice grassy hop quality, not too aggressive but plenty of flavor and aroma. A little pricier than I'd prefer for a four pack of this level of beer. Still, I like it better than Zombie Dust or Pseudo Sue.

  noteTurbid. Smells great, like strawberry jelly. Maybe influence a bit by the actual strawberry jelly in my sandwich? Rhubarb comes across much more in the flavor. Took me a bit to parse the flavors, at first I was just expecting massive strawberry, then it seemed like it just wasn't a fresh fruit flavor. The rhubarb covers up a lot of the maltiness so it ends up tasting more like spritzer than beer. And at 4% you can basically drink it that way. Interested to see how much it will settle, although it's bottle conditioned. I can't put this up with Serendipity but I like it as much as the Belgian Red.

  noteA weird funk to it, not what I expected from a 2/4? year old geuze. And not like any funk I've had in other sours. Otherwise it was excellent. Huge cherry aroma but didn't dominate the flavor. Gorgeous red color, even the head was very red. Higher abv than I expect from a lambic but very refreshing. Alcohol didn't mar the experience.
